As Bobby Kent lay bleeding on July 14, 1993, he called out for help, and then mercy from his friends. Their response was quick and deliberate. Larry Clark's "Bully" chronicles the incident that would leave a community stunned, parents nonplussed and heartbroken and a group of defendants convicted of a brutal crime for which they never repented.

Critics Consensus

With its lingering shots of naked teenage bodies, Bully feels more sordidly exploitative than realistic.

Tanner Tafelski Village Voice What Clark does suggest in this confrontational work is a cultural condition in American suburbia by which relations between parents and children are strained or even nonexistent. Roger S One of the best movies about bored teens. The movie feels real and yes, it is graphic, but it's one of those movies where you're not sure you should be watching because it is so raw, but certainly makes you think for days after viewing it. I still think of this movie years later. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review ringo l Umm, I liked it, it is quite thrilling, watching dumb ass kids lol Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Rich S I'm left to decide whether this is a movie worthy of watching at all. For one, I won't ever watch it again. Most movies are a decision between a 3 or 4, maybe a 7 or 8 on my 10-point scale. This one is strange because it's a choice between a 6 (three stars) or a 1. Or even a zero. Despite all of the negative feedback from paid critics for Larry Clark's choices with a young cast, I believe Bully does have some value. And it's hard to assign how much value when dealing with so much immorality. But I think Bully is a movie worth, at the very least, knowing about. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Jerod S The kids are brainless. And their parents are absent. But Bobby is a monster - so they all conspire to kill him. It's painfully dumb, but also a slice of early 2000s that's almost accurate. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Ruud T Worth to watch. See what can happen if you do stupid things without thinking about it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review mark g Disturbing for sure, but also one hell of a movie. To be upset about young people that are scantily clad, makes little sense, WHEN THE REAL STORY IS ABOUT SEXUALLY ACTIVE YOUNG PEOPLE! This film has stayed with me. Visually stunning and great performances by a talented young cast. And what a final scene, with Fatboy Slim going strong. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review Read all reviews
