Namrata Joshi National Herald (India) The original worked because it could log into the dreams, ambitions and suffocations of small-town youth of North India. That demographic has aged, and the film doesn't know how to carry on with them. Jan 3, 2022 Full Review Anupama Chopra Film Companion Bunty aur Babli 2 had the potential to be a fun caper but the sequel is let down by a mediocre script. Nov 19, 2021 Full Review Sukanya Verma Rediff.com Between juvenile laughs, contrived messaging and finding lacklustre ways to doff its hat at the first one's familiarity, Bunty Aur Babli 2 is neither here nor there. Rated: 2/5 Feb 12, 2022 Full Review Tanul Thakur The Wire The first had some political consciousness, the second has none. Jan 3, 2022 Full Review Rahul Desai Film Companion The film, directed by Varun V. Sharma, is smart enough to be both a sequel and a reboot at once. Jan 3, 2022 Full Review Stutee Ghosh The Quint After subjecting oneself to the banality of a completely uncalled for sequel, this exercise of then writing about it is even more tiresome. Fatigue has already set in. Dec 6, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Ashish P While it could've been riskier and more in touch with its politics, B&B 2 is still a fun ride helped by some earnest performances by the lead, even if the final results are nothing out of the ordinary. ☆3.6/5 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Didn't really go into this with any expectations, and that's exactly what was delivered. The movie lacks solid comedy and while the story is decent (considering it is tied to the original movie), there is just too much scope for improvement. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review yash b I only saw the original "Bunty Aur Babli" one time during my childhood. Even then, I remember the movie being fun and can still recall the general gist of the storyline. This sequel is completely unnecessary and almost ruins the characters. This movie is okay in the beginning but gradually becomes repetitive and boring to the point where it drags on forever. The issue is that the movie has no real heart or soul, unlike the first movie. As a result, I didn't root for any of the characters at any point, so any payoff falls flat. Throw in bad comedy, a poorly thought out storyline, as well as an awkward recasting choice, this movie is a colossal mess. It might be the worst Indian movie I have seen in 2021 so far. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member SAIF AND RANI MAKE EXCUSES FOR SUB PAR SEQUEL Now I must start of by saying that I do like Saif Ali and think he's a very talented actor. But unless he was going to deliver a groundbreaking performance or was always gna be the height of stupidity accepting the role of Bunty replacing Abhishekh Bachan in one of his career defining performances. As expected he fell way short of the mark. So it's simple Abhi post Dhoom 3 and Adi Chopras post production interference did not feel comfortable working with Yashraj films again. Adis wife RANI is in desperate need of a hit to stay relevant in the industry. So they went back to the vault and pulled out bunty and Babli. Adi and RANI claim it's an entirely different film and shouldn't be compared to the original. What BS the story makes it directly a sequel, how can you not compare. Saif as well claims the movie should be viewed as a stand alone and his character shouldn't be compared to Abhis. I know Saif isn't stupid, that's what makes good claim ludicrous. He's playing exactly the same character, once Again how the hell can you not compare. Let me put it simply. Rani is becoming obsolete, she needs something big. Adi tried to revive his wife's career, Abhis not interested in playing ball after being messed around by YRF.. They tried replacing him with a very talented Saif but anybody with any sense knows after watching Salaam namaste that Abhis comic timing is in a different league to Saifs. Always destined to fail and result : Yet another in a long series of failures for Adi Chopra. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member BUNTY AUR BABLI 2 MOVIE REVIEW Firstly it has to be said Aditya Chopra was either very brave or very stupid, removing the Bachan element of the original entirely and still hoping to release a hit. That being said that isn't the main reason that this movie tanks. The major failing is in a loose, pathetic script. Let's get into the story shall we. So it's pretty simple and more or less what fans of the original expected following the post credits scene of the original. Bunty and Babli are caught and told about a new duo doing exactly what they did years ago just more irresponsibly. The story is about them helping the cops catch these 2. So everything in this movie pales in comparison to the original. Saif tries to hard to immitate what Abhishekh did 16 years ago. Even the accent is ludicrously a poor immitation of Abhis Bunty. Rani as Babli in the original was over the top and loud (after all that's Bablis character right?) But here its taken to annoyingly new heights. Sharvari in comparison is ridiculously muted both in volume at times even her shouting sounds like whispering. Chats thankfully is a good as this poor director and script could allow any actor to be. He's undoubtedly the shining tiny spark of this film. The music once again has only one close to average track in comparison to the original which had chart toppers throughout. Ultimately Varun V Sharma is the poor scapegoat for Aditya Chopras incompetence as a producer. As the director Sharma will be blamed for not putting together something at least passable. However the decisions to drop the bachan element, retain an old school music contingent and many other mistakes were made by Adi Chopra and not Sharma. Pankaj Tripathi great as he is, is no Amithji and just as Saif cant reproduce Abhis Bunty neither can Pankajs character replace Dasrath. All in all, It's poor fare. 3/10 is me being generous to this movie but for Chats sake I won't bury it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
