Burial

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Burial gets bogged down in its unnecessarily convoluted story, but it's also a B-movie with impressively weighty subtext.

Phil Hoad Guardian Burial is... atmospheric, with something thematically potent lurking in its sylvan half-light. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2022 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News “Burial” does have a fair share of suspenseful moments but it never takes full advantage of its premise. Rated: 3/4 Sep 8, 2022 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Burial has a hard enough core, both in terms of its central premise and its pulpy tropes, that for about 30 minutes, it almost works as a decent B-movie, right before it unceremoniously falls apart. Rated: 2/4 Sep 2, 2022 Full Review Jon Mendelsohn CBR Burial's script contains some interesting elements, but the film never manages to truly rise to the occasion as either a horror movie or a war story. Jan 3, 2023 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A muddled sort of horror pic set as a WWII B-movie period piece thriller about Hitler's corpse. Rated: C+ Sep 28, 2022 Full Review Pete Vonder Haar Houston Press It almost feels like Parker had originally set out to make a horror movie — not that Hitler isn't already one of history's greatest monsters — but ended up toning down those elements for a more generic war drama with some supernatural elements. Jeff Y Excellent film, for a B grade; well-acted, good script, realistic sets/props and unrelenting action, held my interest throughout. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Audience Member I think it was okay, I was inebriated. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Ella R I have a sneaky suspicion that the movie the actors made and the movie the audience saw may have had two different plots. There was some dodgy editing going on which took away from some good performances. Tom felton had a particularly good segment where he told his story, but slow cuts, poorly edited action and a sense of missing elements gave the overall film a low quality finish despite high quality performance and costume design. I can't help but feel based on one characters reaction at the end that the story one character in particular experienced was true to the horror genre, whereas the story I experienced as a viewer was a historical drama. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Avindu G Burial is decent enough post WWII story that was horrifyingly mislabeled. Only substance that's even remotely haunting is that a group of soldiers carrying a casket around. In aspects of a war movie Burial manages to present yet another side story of the post WW society that's still grasping the new realities. Gloomy skies with dark woods beneath are tone setters for a darkness refusing to cease it's existence. Cast puts up a fine performance to portray the exhausted soldiers struggling to finish up the final assignment. Apart from it's historical value there's hardly anything that sparks for this flick. But it would pass the time just fine. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review bill p Slow moving, good acting but disappointing story and ending. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Leonard E It was okay, kinda dumb moments, characters can be annoying, and the ending isnt that rewarding. Its okay i guess, its not bad but its not too good either, I don't think i would recommend this movie to anyone. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/20/22 Full Review Read all reviews
