Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Burnt Offerings is a mystery, all right. What's mysterious is that the filmmakers were able to sell such a weary collection of ancient cliches for cold hard cash. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy That “shocker” of an ending can be spotted from Neptune, no telescope needed. Rated: 2/4 Feb 17, 2024 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) An absorbing and well-realized film. [Full review in Spanish] Aug 11, 2023 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...an egregiously (and aggressively) deliberate thriller that holds the viewer at arms length for almost the entirety of its overlong running time... Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 22, 2021 Full Review David A. Nardozzi Philadelphia Gay News Burnt Offerings is a supernatural thriller with crackerjack scare elements and a well-directed, sure bet for one of the year's best offerings. Francois B Remind me sometimes of The Shining. Slow but still entertaining. The casting is great , specially Oliver Reed . More a psychological horror than a frightening film . Still have its moments Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Robbie T A slow paced film, but it is worth watching. The ending is chilling. Great cast. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review B Rad Very creepy and atmospheric. No gore but still a good haunted house watch Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Steve D Pure cheese even with this much talent involved. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/23 Full Review Christopher P Sufficiently creepy tale, but maybe over stays it's welcome. We the audience knew exactly what was going to happen long before the movie finally got around to it. Could have easily abbreviated the run time and dropped some things that maybe were important in the novel but had no significance in the film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/28/22 Full Review andy f Always been a slow burner but one of the trend setting evil house movies. You wonder if Stephen King read Marasco's novel when writing The Shining (which of course does everything a thousand times better). Great to see Bette Davis still going strong and Reed and Black give it all the angst they've got. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
