Audience Member The whole movie is a critical view on one of typical samurai virtues...loyalty....loyalty to the lord....and in its approach it's surprisingly modern for a movie from the 60s...rape, homosexuality, sex offenses...u really have to dig deep to find something comparable...good movie although it leaves u behind with a feeling of unease Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This is kind of a werid Samurai Film, I found it while looking over the AnimEigo Web Site (www.animeigo.com) which deals in Anime and Samurai Films. Made in 1963 it is about a present time (1963) family and why som much goes bad for this young man in his life. Its because of past generations of Samurai and what each generation did in his familys past. It has some of the great Samurai actors of the sixties in it. And some fighting but very little. Like I said its a very different Samura film, but it would be a good addition to any collection. I can only muster up 3 stars which is very low in the way of Samurai films for me. Don't be confused this is not a kung fu film. 3 Stars Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Had never heard of it before watching it. Brilliant in a lot of ways, if a bit dated. Makes me want to track down some other things that Imai has done. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
