Pieter-Jan Van Haecke Psychocinematography With Bushido, Kazuya Shiraishi proves that the frame of the samurai and the Edo society can still be utilized to deliver refreshing narratives. Sep 30, 2024 Full Review Mark Schilling Japan Times “Bushido” is veteran director Kazuya Shiraishi’s first samurai period drama, but like his... “The Blood of Wolves,” the film is a lovingly conceived and meticulously executed throwback that revitalizes the genre. Timothy B This is a very interesting film for Americans, as is visiting Japan. Listening in an attentive mode to every moment is a difficult practice to master. Zen Buddhists call it "The Way". The Protagonist is a Samurai, experiencing some ups and downs. Like any human, we nearly blow things up. But the Japanese way of life calls for so much respect, the shame passes back to the self. Loved this film. Japanese language with English subtitles is the way to watch this in my opinion. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
