Blonde Greet (Ronnie Bierman) and Nel (Sylvia de Leur) are two prostitutes living in an Amsterdam canal house where they also conduct their business. Both women struggle in their relationships -- Nel is constantly abused by Sjaak (Jules Hamel), her lazy boyfriend, while Blonde is romanced by a respectful customer whose only fault is that he is married. When Bob (Bernard Droog), a kind yet dull man, proposes to Nel, her business partnership with Blonde is threatened.
