Ron G Jan 4 So this 1936 film is very 1936. Film makers were interested in putting spectacle on the screen, Endless motion Hence the Dance numbers in a Busby Berkley style ... Big production orchestral/operatic numbers and a story line fitting the end of the depression era. Its worth a look to see where hollywood movies were just 6 years after the intro of talkies. See more Steve D 06/11/2023 Should have been funnier but with these two fun will be had. See more 03/16/2022 Hilarious one-liners and the great Marion Davies See more ashley h @ashleyhobgood87 03/28/2021 Cain and Mabel is an okay film. It is about a talented boxer and a gifted dancer who hope to increase their waning popularity by inventing a fictitious love affair for the benefit of the tabloids. Marion Davies and Clark Gable give decent performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Lloyd Bacon did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor and romance. See more 02/26/2020 Acting is average, the stage displays good for the money invested. The dance numbers won an academy award. The scripts being given Marion Davies, or the ones she liked, were simplistic 1920s style love dramas. These simplistic plots became boring as sound took over in the 1930s. The scripts of her films were just not good enough. See more 04/28/2018 Snappy lines and a big production number for Marion Davies! See more Read all reviews
