Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) It is less a docu-drama than a grotesquely manipulative fairytale -- half Walt Disney, half Lars von Trier. Apr 17, 2009 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's a courageous piece of work but it's so thoroughly steeped in old-fashioned melodrama that it makes you squirm. Rated: 2/5 Apr 17, 2009 Full Review Fiona Williams sbs.com.au Though respectful and subdued when the story requires, Fesser's ironic touch manages to extract humour from a dire situation and in the process, skewer organised religion and its propagation of false hope. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 30, 2011 Full Review Julie Rigg MovieTime, ABC Radio National Not a film to recommend unless you have a particular interest in church politics. But an interesting one to talk about. Apr 17, 2009 Full Review Margaret Pomeranz At the Movies (Australia) People critical of Opus Dei will find much to justify their view in the film. But people who have great faith will also find much to nourish them. Javier Fesser has been very clever. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 17, 2009 Full Review Rhiannon Sawyer FILMINK (Australia) Young actress Nerea Camacho is brilliant as Camino, showing a maturity in her performance that resonates strongly with her tragic character. ANGEL One of the best Spanish films of the 2000s. Good actors, good direction, good script, and above all, its protagonist Nerea Camacho and Carma Elias. The saddest movie I have ever seen, but also with a beautiful ending Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Miara G This a good critique of extremist religious beliefs. I can't understand why professional critics dislike this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/17/23 Full Review Benjamin C I found this engrossed by all the 2 hours 18 minutes. The acting, the story but its not for the faint hearted. watch it please! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/22 Full Review Audience Member One of the most intelligent attacks on religious fanatism... full of poetry, and taking the POV of a child for most part. Great performances all around, specially by two Oscar-worthy "parents", Mariano Venancio and Carme Elías, portraying polar opposites parental loves... the caring and empathic one and the monstruous, fanatic one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Uno de los mejores films españoles del 2008 , pelicula inteligente que pone en jaque al opus dei , imprescindible verla en esta sociedad ultra conservadora y religiosa. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member this is a great film not don't ever watch it if you are having a bad day because is extremly sad, definitely the saddest movie I ve ever seen in my life Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
