Cody H Camp is a film that can see as a story with touch. Some moments are heartfelt. The problem lays in the script, directing and editing. This might be due to a lack of budget or volunteers having no previous film knowledge. The strong moments in the film that need to be heartfelt are cut too short, for example a beautiful *spoiler warning* moment where Eli is showing being overwhelmed by his emotions hitting the drums as an escape. Ken is next to him and it could have been a touching moment of connection. Instead the moment is ruined all a sudden by the other camp counselors appearing out of nowhere and saying let’s make s'mores and suddenly Eli is happy again, which doesn’t feel realistic at all because emotions don’t work that way and Ken could have had an amazing bonding moment. The directing is poor and now and then the characters feel like robots saying their text out loud without emotions or thoughts, sometimes even completely random. The script doesn’t know what it wants to tell or focus on. There is too much happening. Is the focus on Eli as main, or on all the other kids and counselors and their stories. It switches back and forth making the story confusing and the arc of storytelling and plotpoints vague. It feels like a rollercoaster of too little time to tell everyone’s story of Camp in one. Even I can understand the story of everybody at camp, it is overshadowing the story of “Eli”. And since we follow him from the beginning, it does feel strange that he isn’t the only main. The weirdest thing is that Ken has a background story too of doing the camp for money, but it is revealed the same moment after the dad of Eli shows up out of nowhere (weeks after Eli called him, which is a big question why he didn’t come sooner). And after that Ken leaves camp (many days it seems?) and returns with a truckload of presents for everybody, and all the camp counselors and Eli are like “okay great we forgive you instant”, which is something that bothers me, because beside Eli having guilt (he caused the entire incident with his das at the pool because he had called him) and feels more guilt when Ken leaves (giving up on Eli as it seems) making Eli completely devastated. And now everything is okay again “bought with presents”. However, the film is definitely not a bad film, Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/25 Full Review Carlos T Minha opinião: Este filme é um fato verídico. Vale apena assistir? sim Nota: 6 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/23 Full Review Fritz L Miles Elliot is a natural. What range! When he finally smiles he makes the sun come out and the whole world lights up! Dazzling ! Great supporting cast telling all true stories that you don't realize until the interviews at the end.
