Leslie Felperin Guardian As visual wallpaper it’s serviceable enough, providing a constant backbeat of blam-blam gunshots and explosions, mostly at night. Rated: 3/5 Oct 26, 2024 Full Review William Bibbiani TheWrap Canary Black is recognizable as an action movie but it’s neither thrilling nor dramatic enough to qualify as entertainment. Oct 25, 2024 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Despite some slick and stylish action sequences, this globetrotting high-tech spy thriller is hampered by a formulaic plot that never musters much intrigue or suspense. Nov 8, 2024 Full Review Alistair Lawrence Common Sense Media The movie's epilogue suggests that its makers think there's enough life in these characters for a sequel. But the stakes will need to be raised if any series is to maintain interest. Nov 4, 2024 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network Do yourself a favor and skip this one unless you are looking for a movie that reuses the same insult of calling a strong female protagonist a bitch over and over again as she tries to save the world. Rated: 3/10 Nov 4, 2024 Full Review Emiliano Basile EscribiendoCine Despite the familiar genre elements, the movie is entertaining and manages to maintain interest, especially for those who enjoy thrillers without too many pretensions. Mike M Clearly just a vehicle to watch an ageing Beckinsale doing gad gadot high kicks with heels on and chasing a heavily armed gang through a James bond villain warehouse at night with nothing but a never- run- out- of- bullets pistol. Hard to fathom why this movie was made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Fred U The movie has plenty of plot holes and inconsistencies to drive a truck through. Even the basic plot line doesn’t make much sense: a high-level bad-ass CIA spy ( Kate Beckinsale ) gets pressured into stealing some world-ending secret file by going on a rampage through the CIA, without having a plan how to turn on her enemies and while insisting she is not a traitor? Adorable. Still, the movie has some surprise twists, that, without the holes and failure of the basic plot, actually could have made for a great movie: say, akin to Atomic Blonde. It overall has that vibe, being filmed in Croatia. Kate Beckinsale does a decent job as the action heroine ( well, except for the failure of the basic plot line ), one would want to see her doing it again ( and the final minutes set up a sequel and that‘s be ok with a well-written plot ), and there are some really cool and imaginative action sequences. So, entirely serviceable as entertainment for the evening, but no need to watch again as I did with Atomic Blonde to understand some hidden layers: the hidden layers here are just plot mistakes. Writers, get a grip! This isn’t hard. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Adrian D Bit of a waste ot Kate Beckinsall's talent here. Lots of action, but nothing compelling here. The ending sets it up for a sequel but somehow I'm hoping it never gets one, unless they find better writers and a better Director. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review HillRat 4 I watched it because I really like Kate but this movie is brutally bad everything they saying negatively is absolutely true. I would say in my opinion it's Her worst movie ever. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Chris C Horrible movie and usually Kate is a good actress but this has to be her worst acting yet, it's like she forgot how to act and was just doing the scene to be done with it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Ron H I enjoyed the movie. Not low budget at all. Acting was excellent. Plot moved at a nice pace. I say watch the first 10 minutes and decide. That’s what I do. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
