The nicest thing I can say about this movie is that it is not completely devoid of any redeeming qualities, but it was so dull that there was no point in time that I was interested in it for the 30 minutes that I gave it before giving up and leaving the room. I give it a D - Just don't bother

It's worth watching if for no other reason so you can give birth to a new found disgust for the idiocy of fast talking rambling BS that appears to be the debate club world. I have a feeling the portrayal is accurate, which makes me wonder why there's no clause added to debates that state one must be clear and coherent with your speech or face automatic disqualification for trying to exploit an obvious flaw that only pollutes the entire session... Otherwise, it's a pretty normal ride. Very predictable. Decently enjoyable. But it's not going to make your top ten list or anything. This is one case where the rotten tomatoes score seems to reflect pretty accurately.

The genius of Candy Jar is not in how much of Lona and Bennett's journey feels new. It's the sense of perspective and even realism inherent in their story that makes a case for the ways we can learn and grow from failure and loss.
