Audience Member One of the lesser successful “Eagle Lion” films, Writer Director Crane Wilbur forte, prison films, entertaining, but not very memorable Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/16/23 Full Review ashley h Canon City is a decent film. It is about a prison escape from the Colorado State Penitentiary. Scott Brady and Jeff Corey give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Crane Wilbur did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the action and drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Engrossing little crime film about a group of convicts who escape from prison, detailing their escape and all of their eventual captures or demises. Done in a Dragnet-like documentary style, which is the film's main weakness, it does have a grittiness and toughness not seen in all crime films of this era. Supposedly the filmmakers use real prisoners and prison employees in the film. Jeff Corey was the only actor I recognized, but you can't miss the stark black and white photography by John Alton. Not a brilliant film, but a tough violent little picture that's certainly worth checking out for fans of old timey crime pictures. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member good drama but hard to classify not a western not a prison picture but has elements of both. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review dwayne r Of special interest to those in southern Colorado Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
