In April 2009, the U.S. containership Maersk Alabama sails toward its destination on a day that seems like any other. Suddenly, Somali pirates race toward the vessel, climb aboard and take everyone hostage. The captain of the ship, Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks), looks to protect his crew from the hostile invaders, and their leader, Muse (Barkhad Abdi). The pirates are after millions of dollars, and Phillips must use his wits to make sure everyone survives and returns home safely.

Captain Phillips is one of the most amazing films of the year so far and is driven by incredible performances from Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi. The story, while maybe not 100% accurate, is still amazing, intense and one that you’ll love to see.

Todo el tiempo estuve preocupado de que Tom quedara varado en una isla, por suerte no pasó pero aún así fue traumático. No supe si era una biografía (si lo dicen al principio, entonces no lo vi), pero mencionarlo al final me ahorró muchos comentarios en esta reseña. Militares, piratas, rehenes, todos haciendo su trabajo lo mejor que pueden. Destacable Tom Hanks, un camino seguro. Principalmente estaba lidiando con la desesperación debido a la cantidad de gritos, comentario personal.

Captain Phillips is a movie of relentless tension, but it's that final scene that makes it a great movie. Tom Hanks delivers an outstanding performance throughout the running time, but it's the finale that catapults him into a new acting league. Greengrass stages something harrowing here: the complete breakdown of a man whose survival instinct has long pushed him beyond his limits. A very gripping thriller.

This was a fantastic film. I knew most of the details of the real story going in. Despite this, the movie had my full attention and somehow managed to keep the tension level very high. By the time it was over, I felt emotional exhausted.

Cannot believe it took me so long to see this film, but it was fantastic and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The story is absolutely wild and the depiction in the movie is really intense. Seeing the Seal go to work in this movie was one of my favorite parts and the acting from everyone was superb. When was the last time Tom Hanks made a bad movie?

Exceptionally good. Great pacing and palpable tension from the get go. Hanks is absolutely masterful, particularly in the finale. His portrayal of the affects of shock is quite possibly the best piece of acting I’ve ever seen.
