Audience Member What is the point of telling the life story of a princess and not doing anything with it? Everything is so lifeless and didactic, the accents are ridiculous, the sense of humor is awful and it is hard to believe that this was the movie that caused the resumption of Brazilian cinema in the 1990s. I suspect it plays a bit fast and loose with the facts, but it is often quite funny and well-worth the effort, especially for any fans of Brazilian culture. Marieta Severo (Chico Buarque's ex-wife) is very good in the title role. The film was among the first of the current creative wave of Brazilian film-making.
