Taron Egerton and an against-type Jason Bateman make for great adversaries in Carry-On, a throwback thriller that clears all checkpoints of plot logic with its confident execution.

Peter Rainer FilmWeek (LAist) A real guilty pleasure. Jan 17, 2025 Full Review Adam Graham Detroit News "Carry-On" is an action movie that is definitely a Christmas movie, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Rated: B Jan 13, 2025 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) ... A filling chunk of crude entertainment – as carb-rich and greens-free as the baked potato you’ll probably eat with it. Rated: 3/5 Jan 8, 2025 Full Review Fletcher Powell KMUW - Wichita Public Radio There are, of course, plot holes large enough to fly a Dreamliner through... but these are problems you expect from a movie like this. Apr 17, 2025 Full Review Nicholas Bell Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) Carry-On is a vigorous reminder on the power of an engrossing B-grade action flick and showcases Collett-Serra's well-honed skills in breakneck characterization and plotting needed for emotionally invested tension. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots Anybody comparing this lazy junk to “Die Hard” is either living in an alternate universe or needs a couple of semesters of film school. Matt B A solid 4/5. I was on a plane whilst watching it. I am surprised at the difference in the audience and critic scores. I saw a lot of 1 and 2/5 which seemed excessive. The film is tense, fast moving and well acted. Plenty of sympathetic characters. It’s no Shakespeare but is that what you expected? There’s a formula but plenty of surprises. The only thing I could think that dragged the score down was that it was about the TSA? And there was a political backstory. The TSA are unlikely to be seen as heroes by the American public, even they do a critical job. And political back stories of any persuasion are probably polarising in that country as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/18/25 Full Review Artie R This was an EXCELLENT movie and MUCH better than "what" ... I WAS expecting; GREAT job! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Brent W Let me start with this, there is no way Ethan (Egerton) was ever a track star. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, this has a lot of pieces of other movies sprinkled in. Die Hard, Phone Booth, Manchurian Candidate etc. It does a decent job of introducing the main characters but does a poor job of explaining motive and end game. I have no idea why the main plot was what it was and don’t know what they are trying to accomplish. The action is mediocre but the dialogue is decent. Bateman does a good job, although I can’t say his reveal is realistic. I’d watch it again, probably not on an airplane, but it would be background noise while doing other stuff. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/18/25 Full Review Patricia E Building a wall using implausibilities instead of solid ideas~horrible. Such a waste of time! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Landen D A fast paced very suspenseful movie. Will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. And, sometimes you just need a happy ending. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Michael F Simple and quick moving action flick. It’s Die Hard in TSA, with a charming enough villain to keep you fully engaged.
