"Carry-On" has the setup of a classic Alfred Hitchcock type film, with the setting of "Die Hard 2". The setup has a lot of interesting potential, unfortunately they really fumble the bag in execution and the movie never really takes off. The suspension of disbelief of how the villains pressure our protagonist into this situation is stretched too thin. The plan is as flimsy as a house of cards. It only comes together because all the other people in this world are idiots, and the screenwriter has willed these circumstances to be so. The B story with the detective isn't very compelling. The story ends up being more frustrating than suspenseful.

I wasn't expecting it to be a Christmas movie, so I guess Action-Christmas movies like Die Hard get two more in the genre with this one and Havoc. Reminded me in the beginning of "Phonebooth" but became its own thing soon enough. Overall, I liked this one, even if it did get a bit over the top later on. The acting was great, especially Jason Bateman as the Traveler.
