Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times LeGear is an empathetic screen presence, but like her long-suffering character, who should have run far, far away from Mitch when she had the chance, she deserves better than this. Oct 19, 2021 Full Review Adam Keller Film Threat For all the nonsense she's forced to recite, LeGear gives a solid performance as Lauren...would be interested in seeing her in something else. Everything else in this movie is best treated like a wild night out and erased from your memory. Rated: 1/5 Oct 19, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

leslie g I enjoyed this film. I like the fact that it tackles alcholism in a different light. I think people sometimes forget the destruction drinking can do to an entire family. I felt the acting and camerawork was amazing for a low budget film! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The plot points of this film hit on some very genuine issues that young couples often deal with in new relationships, especially when an enormous secret is involved. Alcohol abuse is central to the narrative and this one felt all too real to for very personal reasons. Any kind of substance abuse can lead to chaos and heartbreak, as this film shows. The story, direction, and narrative are both straight ahead. Boy meets girl, they fall in love and marry, and then life challenges immediately rear their ugly head. While this is definitely not on the level of the horrors found in "Requiem for a Dream", there are genuine lessons to be drawn from "Carving a Life". Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Carving a Life is an intelligent and raw drama about dark secrets beneath the surface of love and relationships. Tyler Bruhn delivers a top-notch performance and conveys all the emotional undertones of a person battling addiction while attempting to love another human being. The soundtrack is also very enjoyable and subtle. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Carving A Life tells the messy, yet authentic story of a relationship challenged by alcoholism. Told over the course of many years, we track this marriage through its ups and downs, and form close bonds to the charismatic leads. Great soundtrack and editing as well! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched this movie not knowing what to expect (I love that about indie films). This one didn't disappoint. It is the story of a guy battling alcoholism while expecting his first kid. I put it in my recommend pile. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Linda P Nice performances from the lead actors portraying a difficult story showing the costs of alcoholism, especially on love and relationships. Well shot indie film. Would recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/23/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
