What to Know

Critics Consensus

A taut, emotionally grounded procedural, Dossier 137 transcends its genre with a deeply personal lens to confront police corruption and political unrest with gripping precision.

Moll’s self-contained feature feels almost too neatly constructed in the way that it brings Stéphanie’s professional tensions into her familial sphere -- a minor flaw that doesn’t make the outcome any less enthralling. Go to Full Review

A far from a whodunnit as this genre can get, “Case 137” instead mines greater surprises from the straightforward, relying on well-observed character turns from Stéphanie’s working-class partner, her investigation’s key witness and from her teenaged son. Go to Full Review

A study of police violence and corruption that writes itself into a corner and then, brilliantly, forces us to sit there. Go to Full Review

In CASE 137 (DOSSIER 137), a thoughtful fictional procedural from director Dominik Moll, a dogged cop (Léa Drucker) working for French internal affairs, pursues justice for a young man severely harmed during Yellow Vests protests in late 2018. Go to Full Review

Case 137 isn’t a showy, studio film where there’s a clear hero, bad guys and a happy ending. It’s a gritty docu-realistic work that engrosses, angers and stings. It deserves to be seen. Go to Full Review

dlma1 M @dlma1 Dec 25 I saw this film at the AFI Film Festival in Hollywood. A French docudrama about a police internal affairs officer investigating the circumstances behind the injury of a protestor in the Paris riots of 2018. The protestor was shot in the head with a rubber bullet (very much against worldwide police protocol). But as you can guess, she encounters the "blue wall of silence" from fellow officers as she tries to investigate. Very well acted by all involved - in particular by Lea Drucker as the investigator. Highly recommended 8/10. See more Mag M @RT04268193 Nov 21 Great film. An incredible and very realistic dive into the investigation of a female police officer on the actions of some her colleagues during a protest. A boy was badly hurt. Who’s responsible? Where is the truth? The film is very well balanced and brings light to the consequences of some police violence. See more Read all reviews
