James Agee TIME Magazine Should refine the judgment of readers who did not like the Sinclair Lewis novel, but thought that it would make a good movie script, anyhow. It doesn't. Steve D The central romance doesn't work so it is hard for the film to do so. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/23 Full Review ashley h Cass Timberlane is a decent film. It is about Judge Cass Timberlane who marries a girl from the wrong side of the tracks.Spencer Tracy and Lana Turner give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. George Sidney did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Lana Turner is never lovelier. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member good melodrama/rom-com Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a movie that proves we can work through the adversities that society puts us up against. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Spencer Trace movies but this one is a sleeper. This film drags on, has a good storyline but could have been written better. In the opening scene we see Cass Timberlane denying a divorce and stating what marriage should mean to two people. As the movie progresses his own marriage falls apart. In the closing scene when he takes Jinny his wife back he see a hint of his values on marriage coming through from the opening scene Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
