Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh The overall narrative might not be groundbreaking but the confidence in the absurdity and the provocative nature of the direction makes for a weird and wild experience. Justin T This felt more like an eighties Italian horror movie than a nineties monster horror. It suffers from very little happening which makes it boring to watch. Jeffrey Combs tries to carry the film but even he can’t make it entertaining. I blame the writing mostly, it lacks any depth or anything to make it engaging. There are a handful of memorable moments and excellent set-pieces but they are far too rare to save the tedium. It’s like they built an entire film around four cool scenes they wanted to make. The makeup, gore and location are good and most of the acting. The climax is satisfying. It has a great title but is a disappointing film. It should have been 40 minutes shorter. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Logan T Enjoyable enough for Stuart Gordon fans but that's about it Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Audience Member Generic and gratuitous monster movie that whilst it isn't absolutely terrible, isn't really worth the time either. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Perfect example of what horror should be Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/21/22 Full Review R P Castle Freak has a kind of Gothic feel to it with it being set in an actual Italian castle in Italy. This is one of the first Full Moon movies I watched after discovering the Puppet Master series. Also, my first introductions to Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton. A darker movie than some of the other Full Moon movies, but pretty good. (https://foreverfinalgirl.com/castle-freak/) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/22 Full Review Audience Member "If he started drinking again, mom, he's going to need us more than ever!" In this family horror a father, who was responsible for the death of his son and the loss of his daughter's eyesight, moves his failing family to Europe to live in a castle he's inherited. Unfortunately, the castle comes with a resident who's long been chained in the dungeon. Another Lovecraft tale with Jeffrey Combs in the lead and Stuart Gordon directing. This one was super creepy, moreso than "From Beyond " or "Re-Animator" and I think the grainy film and different use of lightning really added to it.
