Just as she is about to get married in Venezuela, the lovely Ana (Ariadna Gil) suddenly dashes off and boards a plane to Paris. Upon arriving in the City of Light, she finds refuge in an apartment with other immigrants and begins to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. Although Ana faces significant challenges, she gradually builds an eclectic support network of friends and admirers who are determined to help her win her ideal role in a film adaptation of the classic Cinderella tale.

Nothing cuts very deep, and at times the film seems to be all over the place (Torres worked with five others on the script); but the surface glitter–aided by Ricardo Aronovich’s cinematography–keeps it fetching.

Celestial Clockwork is a riotous carnival of music, colors, witchery, sexuality and magic. It's pitched at approximately the same level of seriousness as Flying Down to Rio, and if you approach it in that spirit, it's infectious and funny.

How to even summarize this movie? There's a singer who ditches her own wedding to run away to Paris, and the psychoanalyst who falls in love with her, and her dream role in Rossini's operatic version of Cinderella, and... Just see it.
