Lots of pretentious folks trying to dissect this movie so they can appear relevant. The movie was entertaining, start to finish. It's not gonna win an Oscar for sure. But for what it is, it's worth the time. I thought the top 5 actors did a very respectable job of creating characters (Michael, Audrey, Ray, Warden, Jefferson).

I'd rather go see Priest. In 3D! Two times over and over. Yes, Cell 213 is that fuckin' horrible. An inplausible story, all set up by an inconceivable verdict (where were the witnesses?!?), craptastic acting and distortion effects that take away from the movie, Cell 213 is one giant ugly mess of ass. This is probably the worst movie of all time, I mean I'd take P2, Prince Caspians and goddamn Disney Cars in a heartbeat!
It's ugly looking, even for a prison movie. It's dreary and faded, uneven and just unsettling. Sure, its partially a horror and a thriller, but I was more grossed out due to the fact you just know this Canadian shit was filmed in a dirty ass warehouse, so all that grime and nastiness is real, not actual set dressing!
So what's this "film" about? Well now, a certain cell in prison *hint hint 213* correlates with a verse in the book of Revelations, and TA DA, you have your root for a supernatural blow-hard story about Satan's seat of temptation. Cons are forced to endure horrifying psychological trauma from Satan's house of hell, deep fears within brought upon by there life of greed, deceit and malevolence. Michael Gray (Eric Balfour) must face Satan's seat, figure out how he's supposed to redeem himself and his life, and go from there. However,he is merely a corrupt lawyer. Yes, he pays off bounty hunters to "scare" off witnesses, but I never felt he deserved all the shit that happens to him. Maybe if he was a serial rapist or pedophile, but wow, it all felt excessive and cruel. And yes, I've seen the Saw movies and they aren't as bad.
The ending is very depressing too, nothing cathartic, nothing to learn. Just "let's throw this other mean guy" in the cell. What diahrrea this is. If you see this, you're only torturing yourself. At least the actors got paid....I hope.
