MFB Critics Monthly Film Bulletin Direction succeeds in giving us a vivid, though necessarily restricted, picture of the period; and the whole cast is effective in this amusing and invigorating comedy. Jan 25, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Not just a Tommy Trinder vehicle but a vehicle for old time music hall. One song after another which becomes more than annoying. Released during WW2 so I suppose it was made for those who were unable to attend such events during those hard times but this is a struggle Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Tourné durant la guerre, "Champagne Charlie" est une comédie légère qui était destinée a être un pur divertissement pour faire oublier au public les soucis de la guerre. Outre son aspect comique fort réussi, c'est un beau portrait du music hall populaire anglais de l'époque plein d'énergie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is about Victorian music hall, and is loosely based in the real rivalry between George Leybourne and Alfred Vance. The duel between Leybourne and Vance, with an audience of doctors watching on one side and undertakers is very amusing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
