      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Anything but chaotic, Chaos makes a high-energy and award-worthy stab at bourgeois apathy and racial tensions in France, while musing on chance.

Empire Magazine Rated: 2/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review Detroit Free Press Rated: 1/4 Aug 27, 2005 Full Review Moira MacDonald Seattle Times There's a core of anger running throughout Chaos, particularly in the steely performances by its two female leads, that gives this satisfying feminist revenge drama/satire its soul. Rated: 3/4 Jul 25, 2003 Full Review Chase Burns The Stranger (Seattle, WA) They sprint across the screen. It's a great trick to build a scene where your actors can't stop moving. It makes the stakes so stupid, so high, so chaotic. richard i An above average revenge movie, which curiously mixes French farce with drama about the white slave trade, has a terrible soggy middle act all told in flashback, a style which must have seemed very contemporary at the time (handheld DV cam) and lends itself pretty well at the beginning to the 'chaos' the film is trying to evoke, but far outstays its welcome in regards to running time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing comedic timing and plot divided to focus the viewers attention to the modern woman's struggles in a patriarchal world. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member It aspires to be an admirable feminist revenge film, but it is terribly acted and scripted, not to mention the ugly DV camerawork. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Gripping drama about a French couple and the French-Algerian prostitute they encounter in a dark alley. "Satirical comedy?" I disagree with that description--there are certain moments that are humorous, but more in a cathartic/ironic sense. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member It's hilarious! Don't worry, women does not take revenge like this all the time. Just sometimes. :P Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member The men, filled with brutality and neglect, make for rather obvious targets, yet we come to care about the women in their lives beyond any agenda Chaos might have.Despite some odd pacing and a longish, off-putting flashback, Chaos succeeds more than it fails.
