Here are three short films featuring the Tramp (Charles Chaplin). In "A Dog's Life," the Tramp's hardscrabble existence on the streets is compared to that of a canine named Scraps, whose name befits his meals. In "Shoulder Arms," Chaplin is an American soldier in World War I who manages to milk some comedy out of the depressed conditions of trench warfare. And in "The Pilgrim," Chaplin appears in a case of mistaken identity as an escaped prisoner who impersonates a town's minister.

Petros T This anthology film, curated by Chaplin himself, features three of his movies, the really good "A Dog's Life" (1918) and the inferior yet still pleasurable "Shoulder Arms" (also 1918) and "The Pilgrim" (1923). The added narrated introductions are too brief to have much informative value, but they do offer an aura of familiarity. These are three of his best and extremely funny with Chaplin at his near best. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
