Benjamin Gummery Indie Mac User A teen horror/comedy with an interesting twist Rated: 5/5 Oct 14, 2018 Full Review Deirdre Crimmins Film Thrills The film is delightful. Its playful tone and energetic heroine give life to the incredible concept, and bring Bathory's legacy to modern audiences. Aug 21, 2018 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) Camp and somewhat frothy, Chastity Bites gets by on the strength of its cast who are all clearly having a whale of a time. Oct 7, 2015 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed It's merely a run of the mill effort, in the end. Oct 23, 2013 Full Review Elias Savada Film Threat Fresh from its world premiere at Dances With Films comes the delightfully cheesy horror comedy Chastity Bites, which takes a John Hughes high school world and puts a blackened spin on it... Audience Member Good, cheesy, campy fun. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Sort of a direct to video attempt to fuse b movie horror stylistic devices and the wikipedia summarized version of feminist themes, the movie gets lost in its own lack of direction. If you are able to ignore the cringe-worthy moments in the scipt and you are on a high withdrawal from Buffy the Vampire Slayer's binge watching, it could still be worth spending the time on. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member a Virgin murdering countess is a school counsellor but suspicions soon arise amongst some of the students. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member The acting is terrible, the story has certainly been done before, but at least it doesn't take itself seriously. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member You know what's one of the worst kind of conversations to have with some one? The ones where someone picks a stance on a topic, and then rants and raves endlessly. Not only that, but they are so narrow minded that the only side to that subject they see as valid is theirs. And should anyone else even try to raise a counter point, they are struck down angrily. I hate people like that, and I hate movies like that. Most issues that are complex and worth discussion; race, religion, sexuality, politics, there will always be shades of grey and areas of doubt. If a movie wishes to raise topics and issues and discuss them it can, but in order to restrain from being preachy, and more importantly, show multiple fascists to the issue, it must be willing to examine an issue from more than one angle. This film doesn't do that. Told in a tongue and cheek comedy, you may not expect such gravitas, but it has been done before, and well. This film, like that douche, picks one side and makes it the only valid side and all the opponents evil, with no redeeming characters or shades of grey. Even if you agree with a particular stance someone is trying to make, in this film's case that abstinence programs do more harm than good, seeing 90 minutes of rightwing bashing and hardcore leftwing appraisal, only makes for a long slog of a film. A long slog indeed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member The Virginity Action Group Countess Elizabeth Bathory in the 1600s was known as the blood baroness who soaked in virgin blood to preserve her youth. A descendant feeling persona has arrived in present day and began a virgin club at a high school. The girls quickly fall in love except one outcast who doesn't want to participate. The outcast may be the high school's only hope of staving off the countess. "It's so hard to find Mexicans that do their job correctly." John Knowles delivers Chastity Bites in his directorial debut. The storyline for this film is a bit bland and felt like an independent film. The quality of the acting and kill scenes was also below average and nothing to write home about. The horror elements were lacking and disappointing. "I'm not used to people not liking me." This was recommended to me by Fios so I randomly DVR'd it off cable. This felt like an Independent film festival entry that was worse than even made for television quality. There isn't much going for this movie and I recommend skipping it...even for diehard horror genre fans. "Smells like fish taco Tuesday over here."
