Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times It is impossible to determine what the film's makers thought about Guevera, if anything. The movie's dominant quality is gutlessness. Rated: 1/4 Jul 3, 2018 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy A soggy saga so noncommittal that the Cuban Revolution ultimately seems no more monumental a historical event than the Iowa State Fair. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 19, 2023 Full Review Penelope Houston The Spectator A kettle of very odd fish, as was probably to be ex- pected from a confrontation between the Hollywood establishment and the explosive legend of Che Guevara. Audience Member A very strange biopic about the infamous figure. I mean casting Jack Palance as a dorky Fidel Castro... Arrroo?! The film seems to be undecided on how to portray its central figure, painting him as both a saint and a devil, an intellectual and a brute. It's as if the filmmakers want the audience to make up their own mind about Che. Which would be good and well if it didn't take soo many liberties with the story. It's a decent watch, but nothing I'd rush out to see. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/20 Full Review Audience Member Omar Sharif and Jack Palance looked like them - reminded me of Che & Fidel wax figure in Museum of Revolution in Havana... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good. Thanks you.Hugs,Edy Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The 1969 version which was directed by Richard Fleischer. This version starred Omar Sharif(of "Lawrence of Arabia",and "Doctor Zhivago" fame) in the biography of Argentinian revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara who helped Fidel Castro in his struggle against the corrupt Batisia regime, eventually resulting in the overthrow of that government and Castro's rise to his reign of power of the control of Cuba. The film itself is a spectacle of sorts from Guevara's life when he first landed in Cuba in 1956 to his violent death in 1967. The cast is top-notch including Jack Palance, Cesare Danova, Robert Loggia, Woody Strode, and Barbara Luna.....with a great musical score from composer Lalo Schifrin. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked the way the movie started and there are some shots and interesting scenes as well as filming going on here. One of the biggest downers was the fact that it is in English. The shot of Che dead was haunting as it looks so real and Omar looks so much like him in that shot. The movie is like an interview/flashbacks of the events that lead to him becoming a revolutionist and how it all ends. We don't get anything in details, it's just short scenes so it's not very informative but still fun to watch if you want a quick maybe not so accurate history of che. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Biography of Argentinian revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara, who helped Fidel Castro in his struggle against the corrupt Batista regime, eventually resulting in the overthrow of that government and Castro's taking over of Cuba You can view this movie on Flixster Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
