Tom (Steve Martin) and Kate Baker (Bonnie Hunt) have compromised their careers to raise 12 children. Tom coaches a high-school football team, while Kate has retired from journalism to raise the family. Things change when Tom is offered a college coaching job in a new city at the same time a publisher buys Kate's parenting memoir. After moving, Kate goes on a book tour, leaving Tom in charge of the children, who -- already unhappy about relocating -- plunge the household into chaos.

its really cliched and is not a real premise, not to mention really over done gags and cuteness as the primise, but for the most part, its not bad, its just not interesting for me. its more for kids who watch disney channel the for adults. at least they have something for them to focus on. i found steve martin to be funny, at time, and just out of it. its too much slapstick and is simply the plot. its more nip picking for kids, but thats not saying much. Feel good film. A definite comedy classic that will have you laughing your pants off.

I always liked this film, it's good family entertainment. The practicality of it is very unbalanced. It's pretty realistic as far as the kids go as they come in all stripes, the rebellious teens, the snobby smart little girls, the one with the "dark gift", and even two sets of twins. Yet all of that is surrounded by parents (played otherwise very well by Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt) who are too busy in their childhood/college days fantasy world to care for all of them which turns the whole film unreasonably melodramatic. However, this movie will always get a positive rating from me due to the lovable cast of stars and scenes of big laughs, including Ashton Kutcher wearing meaty underwear and getting attacked by dogs.

Ok but it's predictable and most of the laughs are silly and nothing new.
