Critics Consensus

In this family of twelve children, much chaos ensues, but little hilarity.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media Remake bears no resemblance to the 1950 original. Ed R Family fun humor to make everyone laugh. Star studded talent. A decent watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Rihannna H I used to be obsessed with this movie when I was like 12 and I just watched it yesterday it’s good, you should watch it, but it’s not amazing like I used to think it was. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/25/24 Full Review Jace E I'm much higher on this movie than the average movie goer, and I'm completely fine with that. I don't know if it's because I'm a dad, but there are moments of this movie that make me teary every time. Yes, I cry in Cheaper by the Dozen. The family dynamics can be over-the-top and silly, the acting can be a bit forced and the premise is full of plot holes, but that doesn't stop this movie from having a whole lot of charm. From the "WE LOVE THE COACH" scene, the search for Mark and many more, there are more than enough heartwarming moments. Couple that with the hilarity of soaking underwear in meat and you have a small piece of magic. At the end of the day, this movie isn't winning any Oscars but it is one that I would happily watch with my family any day of the week. Best Character: Hank the Model/Actor Best Quote: "I guess you could say that when Tom and I left Midland we had a mess of theories about how to raise children. We still have a mess of children, but no theories. Sure, 12 is still our number. It's the number of months my book was on the bestseller list. It's the number of job offers Tom turned down before we found one close to home. And each day it's the number of times I'm thankful there's such a thing as family." - Kate Best Scene: Finding Mark on the Train Best Piece of Score: "The Stadium" Best Song: "I'm Just a Kid" Note: The cast is packed full of early 2000's child stars. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Ciaran S This is one those movies that exists.....and why yet why am i not surprised that this was a remake of the 1950 version? Although Cheaper By The Dozen can have it's heartwarming moments i doesn't change the fact that it's a terrible movie with a cheap story, weak script, sub-par acting and including some of the worst comedy i've seen since Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Daniel M Average comedy movie with a good vibe with its fun moments Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/09/23 Full Review Nikita P Let me start with a warning: If you are not in love with the idea of having kids then this movie might trigger you. It has not one but 12 kids creating what you expect - chaos. It scares you as they show how difficult it is to live your dreams and career after having kids. Overall, a fine one-time watch.
