steve d Fulk was a blast and made the entire thing fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw this film on tv quite many years ago. I loved it. I haven't been able to find it again. One day I will. It has this quirky jewish humour that apparently isn't for everybody. Incredibly beautiful film, but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Peter Falk is his usual, charming self. That's about all I liked about this movie. The characters are one dimensional. The plot is weak at best. The obligatory "heartwarming" ending is beyond comprehension. This is one movie that, in my opinion, is not worth "checking out". Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Was this just re-released? It was listed as 'just arrived' at the library. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a very heart warming movie, and a a pleasure to watch. It was a very moving film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member This was adorable. Loved this movie. Great story, funny and good performances. Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter This Borscht Belt version of King Lear, recently given a limited theatrical release, will find its true home on video and cable. Oct 4, 2006 Full Review Joe Leydon Variety Funny is funny, and there's no denying that much of Checking Out is agreeably entertaining in a Neil Simon Lite fashion. Sep 15, 2006 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Only Laura San Giacomo, as Morris's lonely daughter, Flo, transcends the staginess of the premise and the creakiness of Richard Marcus's screenplay to deliver a performance that feels remotely natural. Rated: 1/5 Sep 15, 2006 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com To her credit, Laura San Giacomo is actually one of the best things about a film that features Peter Falk doing his best imitation of Peter Falk. Rated: 1.0/4.0 Sep 5, 2020 Full Review Andrew Mullen Film Threat A thoroughly entertaining, intelligent film with an ultimately positive outlook. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 16, 2006 Full Review Ken Fox TV Guide Actor-turned-writer Allen Swift's play comes to the screen with staginess intact, and despite attractive cinematography and some nice New York City location footage, the material's provenance is never far from the surface.
