It’s definitely a play and a musical and very good in that regard. Catherine Zeta-Jones has always fascinated me and so has Renée Zellweger, for opposite reasons. I find her vision blurry but she is very talented. I never saw this movie until more than two decades later, now on TV on PBS without commercial interruptions 11.15.24.

The cast. The choreography. The way Rob Marshall hits the cynicism of the law and order with the old Hollywood showman style…. Everything is pure perfection. This is a film I play repeatedly time and time again now 20 years later and it’s still a masterpiece!! Whoever rates this film poorly truly have no taste in art and musicals.
