J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Animation fans will find this worth the wait, though apparently there's no story-generating software that can tap into the dark recesses of a child's psyche as cannily as Uncle Walt once did. Nov 16, 2009 Full Review Olly Richards Empire Magazine Beyond a cheeky, twisty bit of genre-tinkering, there's more here for the under-tens than over-, but it's still charming, amusing and energetic enough to win you over. Rated: 3/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine Truly there's no sense of calm to the film, which feels as if it's been assembled with the manic energy of a preschooler trying to fit square-shaped plastic toys into circle-shaped holes. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 11, 2006 Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal Kids might see too much silence and thought as something they’d do in a timeout, so the alien frenzy is thrust too far forward. "Chicken Little" still is fun, even if you don’t quite believe all that it’s telling you. Rated: 3/4 Nov 9, 2023 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn Outside of a few interesting designs, specifically with the aliens, and a couple of funny lines, Chicken Little is a disaster. Adam N I will never understand the hate for this film. It really doesn't deserve it. Sure, it's not quite as good objectively as Disney's earlier films, but it has a unique feel to it that sets it apart from the rest, with a really creative touch to it. Besides, Disney has put out way worse films that this (looking at you, "Wish"). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/03/25 Full Review brayden w Alright, so let's chop it up about Chicken Little. You know, sometimes you go into an animated flick not expecting much, but it just hits different. And for me, this one was actually pretty damn good and funny! I found myself genuinely laughing out loud at a lot of the jokes and the whole vibe of the movie. It’s got that energy that just hooks you in, and honestly, it’s a solid watch that often gets overlooked. The animation holds up, and the character designs are charming, especially Chicken Little himself. He's this earnest little dude trying to prove himself, and you can't help but root for him. The supporting cast is hilarious too – that fish character, Fish Out of Water, is a silent comedy genius, and Runt the pig brings some serious anxiety-fueled laughs. The visual gags are on point, and the fast-paced humor keeps you entertained from start to finish. They really packed a lot of funny moments into this one, and it’s genuinely creative in how it tells its story. It's got heart, it's got laughs, and it’s just a good time overall. Now, with all that said, I do have one major complaint, and it's a big one for me: Buck Cluck, Chicken Little's dad. Man, listen. That dude was a piece of work. For a good chunk of the movie, he's just... dismissive, unsupportive, and almost embarrassed by his own son. Chicken Little is out here trying his best, making mistakes, and then trying even harder, and his father is barely in his corner. It’s like, dude, your son needs you to believe in him! The whole "the sky is falling" thing might be wild, but as a father, you gotta at least listen to your child and be there for him, especially when he's clearly going through it. It's a classic animated movie trope where the parent eventually comes around, but with Buck, it just felt like he took way too long, and his actions felt genuinely hurtful at times. It makes you wonder how much emotional damage that little chicken was carrying around before he finally got his moment. While the movie delivers a good message about believing in yourself and being true to who you are, it makes you wish Buck had just been a better father from the jump. That’s my only real gripe, but it’s a significant one because it impacts the heart of the story. Despite Buck Cluck's parental shortcomings, Chicken Little is still a surprisingly enjoyable and genuinely funny animated movie that's worth checking out if you haven't seen it in a while, or ever. Just be prepared to get a little frustrated with the dad! Au-delà de ça, l'histoire n'est de loin pas convaincante.
