What to Know

Critics Consensus

Chicken Run has all the charm of Nick Park's Wallace & Gromit, and something for everybody. The voice acting is fabulous, the slapstick is brilliant, and the action sequences are spectacular.

Dejan Jotanovic Bitch Media Chicken Run, if anything, offers an alternative to a desolate world that many of us are increasingly afraid of. Mar 15, 2021 Full Review Rebecca Hawkes Daily Telegraph (UK) Its plump chickens maintain that strange, haptic quality that makes you yearn to reach out and squeeze them. Rated: 5/5 Jul 20, 2015 Full Review Anthony Lane The New Yorker Even without Wallace and Gromit, most of the trademark joys are here: the compound of squashy creatures and heavy machinery, the wide, open-ended rictus of a toothy smile, and the great Parkian gulp. Jul 20, 2015 Full Review Carla Monfort Espinof With a scene-stealing ensemble, the characters shine for their charisma and are led by two protagonists with hilarious chemistry. Carlos AWSOME! Even tho i fell asleep…. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/22 Full Review Caleb B always a fan of this series! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/28/25 Full Review Adam N Aardman at its finest. It's amazing how the writers were able to combine a darker tone with lighthearted gags and entertaining character dynamics. The soundtrack is brilliantly arranged, with the most creative use of kazoos I have ever heard. I have nothing but praise for this remarkable film, it's a shame it's overshadowed now by other Dreamworks movies. It is quite possibly the greatest film ever made. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/25 Full Review Matthew H This is essential reading for all aspiring revolutionary socialists Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/23/25 Full Review K G The Obviously Proof of English Stop Motion Goodness. Me & my ones all love Aardman, the English stop-motion animation studio set in Bristol, likely you too. Miraculously, their first feature movie is real cinema & is also the highest grossing stop motion animated movie yet. Nick Park is a treasure to us, he created Wallace & Gromit, a franchise you can milk but it will never go bone dry because we love Wallace & Gromit. They make the chickens like us people ironically, they have teeth (birds of any form do not have teeth) & almost humanly arms. They are all sorts of hilarious & memorable characters. Rocky & Ginger were a great pair of feisty, hopeful heroes who knew how to escape from being butchered into pies. I think this movie is against animal cruelty. Any Aardman movie can be against animal cruelty. DreamWorks (& Aardman) tried to take on a Disney/Pixar movie like "Toy Story". And especially in modern times, they always succeed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/25 Full Review John K Brilliant animated movie from my childhood. I still love it to this day because of its unique story, all-star cast, incredible stop motion and amazing camera techniques that help make this movie one of the best animated films ever made.
