Phil Hoad Guardian In the absence of any feel for intrigue, not least the potential intricacies of a husband-and-wife spook team, Johnson shuffles a deck of espionage-film cliches largely at random. Rated: 2/5 May 29, 2024 Full Review Cris Kennedy Inner East Review The screenplay is by George Mahaffey and while his dialogue has a good rhythm to it, his plotting doesn't get very deep. Rated: 3/5 Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Generic action spy film. Rated: B- Jun 4, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This generic spy thriller consists of rudimentary action and chase scenes, tons of exposition as characters explain the plot to one another, and textbook twists that lack life or spark. Rated: 2/5 May 18, 2024 Full Review Daniel Gorman In Review Online [Chief of Station] does give Johnson a chance to flex some filmmaking muscles of a different sort... [It] isn’t going to win any awards, but it gets the job done with efficiency and precision. That’s the Jesse V. Johnson guarantee. May 7, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film It’s really Kurylenko's work that gives the film its emotional core, but action fans need not worry: she still delivers some impressive kicks, and gets to jump away from a petrol explosion. MICHAEL Z One of the worst spy movies I have ever seen. Agree with every review that blasts the slow plot, terrible action scenes & ridiculous story. The only thing that misses more than this movie are all the people shooting at each other in this flop. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/02/25 Full Review Liam M This movie was very dull and the action scenes were just plain terrible. The scene in the warehouse was particularly egregious; the mercenaries had worse aim than stormtroopers, the fight was slow, and in the subsequent car chase, Nick couldn't even hit the pursuing vehicle's windshield once even though they were less than 20ft behind. Don't waste your time with this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/17/25 Full Review S J I generally don’t feel called to write reviews on movies, but this one warranted the effort. It was clear that most of the budget was blown on the sets and wardrobes. The writing was unimaginative, cliche, and predictable. Continuity wasn’t even an afterthought. One of the bad guys seemed to keep coming back completely unscathed after repeatedly dying. The special effects were laughably inconsistent with reality, which is something I anticipated with watching an action movie, but it was underwhelming and ridiculous. It could have had a lot of potential and nuance, but the whole production of it didn’t even allow for the chance to suspend disbelief. It felt rushed, clumsy, and disappointing. I’ll be making jokes about it in future conversations. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Ben P This movie drags for the first hour. its the same trope as all the other "someone killed someone I love so i need to find out why" movies. Two stars is generous. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Curt C Absolutely a great action movie with Aaron Eckhart and my favorite...Olga Kurylenko...action packed spy thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for 97 minutes. I give it an 8.0 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/25 Full Review Mike A This movie had potential, good story line but poorly directed. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Read all reviews
