The movie is loosely based on real events and follows the story of a Chinese salesman named Yan Jian who travels to Africa to sell telecommunications equipment. However, Yan gets caught up in a conflict between two warring African tribes and must use his fighting skills to survive. Overall, "China Salesman" has received largely negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. Many have criticized the movie's poor writing, wooden acting, and lackluster action scenes. The plot is convoluted and often makes little sense, with characters acting in bizarre and illogical ways. The editing and pacing are also quite poor, making it difficult to follow the story. In terms of the performances, Mike Tyson and Steven Seagal are barely in the movie and do not have much to do. The main lead actor, played by Li Dongxue, is serviceable but unremarkable. The supporting cast is largely forgettable, with some actors delivering their lines in awkward and stilted English. See more 07/26/2020 Movies about history shouldn’t be made like this. China salesman has an interesting story but the movie consists of mostly soldiers shooting soldiers. The acting is awful especially from Mike Tyson. Don’t go into this film expecting Mike Tyson and Seagal and fight scenes as there is only one in the beginning of the film. Steven Seagal is actually barely in the film itself. The film is cheaply and poorly made of bad dialogue. Not even a guilty pleasure action flick. See more 02/23/2020 Very interesting movie. Enjoyed it, surprised that it scored so low, suspect that was the scoring is fudged. Seems like some one or some people want to discourage audiences from seeing this. It's definitely worth watching.
