Kind-hearted, fatherly John Chisum (John Wayne) owns a large ranch in Lincoln County, New Mexico, in the 1870s. With the help of his faithful sidekick, Pepper (Ben Johnson), and a hot-headed young ranch hand nicknamed Billy the Kid (Geoffrey Deuel), Chisum does battle with underhanded land developer Lawrence Murphy (Forrest Tucker). Having bought up most of the nearby town and appointed his own corrupt sheriff (Bruce Cabot), Murphy now has his eye on Chisum's ranch.

Like other Wayne movies, there's complete identification between reel and real life: Chisum is described as "fat wealthy, tough, trusting, stubborn, generous, and sentimental."

I love Chisum.. My all time favourite Western. The music , action and story all hit that mark for me. I must have seen this 30 times at least.. and will watch it again.

This Western classic was really good. John Wayne, Forest Tucker, Geoffrey Deuel, Ben Johnson, and the rest of the cast did an excellent job in this movie. The plot of the movie was dramatic and thrilling. It's about fighting back against a corrupt system no matter what the costs. If you haven't seen this classic movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.

Though older in this role, a John Wayne classic with an interesting twist that it features Billy the Kid as a ranch hand who avenges the death of a mentor who believed in him (Which is true to life). Listen to soundtrack, sound familiar? It's a young Merle Haggard! VERY enjoyable

It's John Wayne at his finest. Great western. The tale of good vs evil. Good guy winning the day. Proud rancher born from hard fought circumstances. Name an airport after this guy!!

Synopsis
