Synopsis
In the summer of 2000, a goldmine in the Peruvian Andes leaks mercury along a 25-mile stretch of land, triggering a major environmental crisis. But, as this documentary chronicles, a political crisis is also ignited when the toxic spill sickens hundreds of residents who don't have access to adequate health care. An ambitious politician then decides to take up the residents' cause, demanding proper medical care when the mining company and venal politicians stonewall the sick at every turn.
