Glenn Whipp Los Angeles Times Though it's a bit short on context and detail, the movie boasts a host of riveting interviews with the men caught behind enemy lines in the brutal winter battle at North Korea's Chosin Reservoir. Rated: 4/5 Sep 17, 2010 Full Review Mike Hale New York Times Does what it can to honor this little-known band of brothers. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 10, 2010 Full Review Chuck Wilson L.A. Weekly Miraculous, cinematically dramatic escapes abound in these stories, but there's no triumph in the eyes of the tellers -- only guilt, remorse and pain. Sep 16, 2010 Full Review Eric Monder Film Journal International A thoughtful if slightly limited revisit to the "forgotten war," the American involvement in the Korean conflict. Audience Member One of if not the best military documentary i have ever seen. It's not so much about the grand strategy or strategic decisions made during the Korean War. It's instead filled with very personal interviews with various soldiers and marines who fought in the specific battle of the Chosin Reservoir. The story's these men tell goes beyond anything Iv ever heard real veterans talk about on camera before. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member AHC 5/25/14 Well done doc that captures the horrible conditions faced during this battle. The many first hand accounts tell the story at the foxhole level. Amazing what men can endure. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the most moving documentaries I have ever seen. Although it lacked some of the background information and technical production seen in documentaries like Ken Burns the war, it makes up for this in moving stories told from the Marines and Soldier who fought and survived the battle at Chosin Resevoir. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member To me this was really impressive to see the war footage they put in on here. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member It was kill or be killed. Washington ignored the Chinese involvement and the Chosin became a struggle to survive for the Marines. These are their stories 60 years later. Incredibly horrible. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best films about Korean War I have ever seen. Makes you proud to be an American. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
