Audience Member This movie follows the life of a young man selling Christmas trees in New York. It isn't a typical movie or holiday movie by any means, and all the better for it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Best Christmas movie, really captures the true spirit of the holidays in a way that pretty much no other Christmas movies do. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best melancholic Christmas films I've seen. True shoe-gazer filmmaking, it's a quietly natural look at the holiday season from the perspective of a lonely Christmas tree salesman, someone who benefits from yet resents the potential consumerist blinders. However, its cynicism is never engulfing, instead allowing kindness and goodwill to weave through the inherent sadness in unexpectedly cozy ways. A nice change of pace from the often overwhelming movie merriment of December. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member As a former graveyard security guard, I can say that this film nailed the loneliness of minimal human interaction during long, dark winter nights. This is not a happy Christmas movie; or even a Christmas movie at all. It is a great demonstration of what can be done with grounded, intimate storytelling on a tiny budget. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Between a 7/10 and 8/10, delicate and restrained, the film offers the messages of redemption and renewal we so often crave from a Christmas movie without wrapping its themes and characters in tinsel. Elissa Suh StageBuddy.com Christmas, Again is categorically not a romance. Poekel defuses that thought early on, as she comes and goes, but what he captures is better: kinship and hope with home-spun warmth. What better tidings than these? Mar 16, 2020 Full Review Scott Pfeiffer Chicago Reader Crafted with affection and attentive to workaday rhythms, this first feature from writer-director Charles Poekel demonstrates an authentic feel for the neighborhood, where he himself once sold trees. Dec 17, 2015 Full Review Alonso Duralde TheWrap Delicate and restrained, the film offers the messages of redemption and renewal we so often crave from a Christmas movie without wrapping its themes and characters in tinsel. Dec 11, 2015 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie It may not be the most exciting thing to watch, but it provides something unique, relatable and ultimately worthwhile. Rated: 7/10 May 24, 2019 Full Review Morgan Rojas Cinemacy Christmas, Again is a welcome slow burn of enjoyment and reflection on the nuances of the season. Aug 6, 2018 Full Review Alex Heeney Seventh Row There's no Hollywood ending here, but though little has happened plot-wise, we sense that this Christmas just might have been transformative for two lonely, drifting souls.
