John Nugent Empire Magazine Gurinder Chadha’s Dickens do-over is a typically original perspective on a canonical classic, if let down by its stretched production values and unlikable songs. But it aims only to be a crowd-pleaser, and may yet become one.  Rated: 2/5 Nov 13, 2025 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian It’s only November and this film has given me an overload of Yuletide nausea. Rated: 1/5 Nov 13, 2025 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) Christmas Karma is a film made with the best intentions by some lovely human beings, but which keeps finding new and spine-twistingly embarrassing ways to fall on its face. Rated: 0/5 Nov 12, 2025 Full Review Patrick Cremona Radio Times It all adds up to a tonally jarring film that is rather televisual in scale - but which has just enough heart to provide a small amount of festive cheer. Rated: 2/5 Nov 20, 2025 Full Review Sarah Manvel In Their Own League The kind of movie older folks think is family-friendly, not the kind of thing the kids would choose to see themselves. Nov 18, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Christmas Karma is a well-intentioned but misguided attempt to turn A Christmas Carol into a British Bollywood musical. The movie's original songs are terrible, the acting is often cringeworthy, and this off-balance movie goes from bad to worse. Nov 16, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Tara Yikes. Music bad, acting bad. Had really great potential with the concept but just couldnt land, Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/25 Full Review Gordon G Some clever ideas like Day of the Dead but the lead actor struggles and resorts to half smile, half tearful expressions. A dreadful amount of stage school bouncy dancing that would suit a theatre show better.Only decent song is Wonderful wonderful life from 1987, would have been better with more 'classics.' Every time the dad picks up his guitar you know it's going to be awful. A serious lack of jokes, too. Plot holes - they own huge diamonds and they're still poor? Bob Cratchett, supposedly underpaid, lives in pastel-painted multimillion pound house rather than a multistorey with lifts smelling of wee. As for Danny Dire ..... a substandard Sid James. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/25 Full Review James A Surprisingly moving, imperfect, but worth your time: I watched Christmas Karma without any expectations, especially after seeing some of the very harsh critics’ reviews — including a few zero-star ratings that honestly baffled me. What I found instead was a film that, while far from perfect, has a lot more heart and ambition than it’s being given credit for. Yes, some moments are uneven. A couple of the musical numbers didn’t quite land for me, and one or two casting choices felt a bit out of place. But despite its rough edges, this film actually tries to say something meaningful. It plays with themes you don’t usually see in a Christmas movie — prejudice, identity, acceptance, reconciliation — all wrapped up in a story that genuinely wants to lift people up rather than talk down to them. And oddly enough, a week later I’m still humming the main song ("Wheels of Karma, Christmas Karma…"). Not many films do that. This isn’t a glossy, polished blockbuster. It’s more like someone genuinely trying to bring a bit of spirit and warmth into a world that feels quite heavy at the moment — and for me, that effort counts. Christmas Karma won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, and it definitely has its quirks. But the scathing critic reviews feel unnecessarily bah-humbug. If you’re open to something different, something imperfect but sincere, give it a chance and make up your own mind. You might find it stays with you longer than you expect. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/25 Full Review Kal G I don’t understand what the bad reviews are about. This was pretty fun, original, well shot and pretty fast paced. I liked the songs and I usually don’t watch musicals that much. I think this is a movie that will grow on people eventually with time. I thought The Christmas Carol story being told from a different cultural background also gave it an interesting perspective to the film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/20/25 Full Review J B Really didn’t need a political message entwined with a Christmas film. The music and acting efforts were at times jarring. Somehow we cannot get Christmas films right anymore or perhaps I’m getting old and jaded? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/25 Full Review Audience Member I watched it with my partner yesterday, at first it did seem a bit cringy, but as the story developed it was absolutely brilliant. I absolutely loved the Indian influence on the classic tale, the Bangra music was amazing (i hope that's right). Overall thoroughly enjoyed it. We both had a tear up at a sad moment.
