Audience Member Talk about the ultimate rebellious wild child, a disgruntled female skinhead throwing a tantrum (for a reason never really made very clear) that includes slashing the family and servants (though the slashing is only suggested; one of the characters mentions that a couple of the latest victims were "butchered"). Said family and servants seem to just emote and wait around for their turn. And the family priest gets an assist ending this conceit by taking a switchblade to the remaining innocent member of the family's throat . If this film was any slower it could be shown on a slide projector. It seems to me a bunch of theater people decided there's nothing to making a film and went out, locked a camera down, stood in front of it and began spouting bland, largely unmotivated, often excessively flowery dialogue. I've read some about the moody, atmospheric lighting but it looked to me like the lighting crew forgot to pack more than one light for the shoot. The only real moment was when the skinheaded girl with the beef against the family walks up to a baby girl and stabs her (again, no visual - the deed is related by sound) very disturbing and if the rest of the movie was as effective it might possibly rate the inexplicably high number of likes shown here. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member The corpses referred to in the title of this film are actually those of the viewers who died of boredom while watching it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Just like McElhinney's first film, A CHRONICLE OF CORPSES manages to be a rich tribute to movies before it while conveying a true sense of originality. It's a creepy, atmospheric and well-photographed unknown gem. Notice the many Kubrickian touches, even in the music selections. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I suppose you can fault it for being self-conscious outsider art. But seeing as how almost no one's seen it (and those that would see it would probably loathe the thing), isn't it...outsider art? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
