Audience Member A little scattershot, too biased and often too flippant. Still quite interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This doc. covers a broad scale of Black's rise and fall, equating him to Citizen Kane... and Icarus. I didn't really follow his story at the time of the events, so this was interesting enough to learn the basics. As the bonus features mentions, some of what was filmed in a closed room scenerio was used in the courtroom... which is a neat tid-bit. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Although the subject is quite fascinating, this doc takes on a much too "journalistic" and dry tone. It provides a peak behind the curtain of Black's life, but there's not a tremendous amount of new and insightful information. My favorite part was Conrad's repetition of the phrase "a bargain at twice the price" in context that are world's apart. If the rest of the doc had that kind of cinematic flair, I think it would've better served it (instead of the insipid Icarus comparison). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I expected this to be a bit more topical and centred on Hollinger, etc. Really, it's more of a profile piece on Conrad Black. Not outstanding but pretty interesting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
