Prison guard Vince Rizzo (Andy Garcia) wants to quit his job to become an actor, but he also needs to make up for lost time with Tony (Steven Strait), a long lost son who's an inmate where Vince works. When Tony is freed, Vince suggests the ex-convict move in with his wife, Joyce (Julianna Margulies), and their children. But because Vince neglects to tell his family that Tony is not just a stranger, but the son he fathered before he met Joyce, this leads to a series of comic misunderstandings.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian This feature might work better as a television series, but Garcia himself gives the picture some much-needed ballast. Rated: 2/5 Jul 22, 2010 Full Review Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) I won't make great claims for Raymond De Felitta's film - it hardly makes them for itself - but I will say this for it: as an ensemble acting workout, it exceeds expectations from the top down. Rated: 3/5 Jul 22, 2010 Full Review Angie Errigo Empire Magazine An at-times marvellous muddle of high farce and low-brow chuckles. Rated: 3/5 Jul 22, 2010 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) In City Island a dysfunctional family learns to function in a fun act of collective contrition. [Full review in Spanish] Jul 20, 2022 Full Review Andrea Hubert NME (New Musical Express) A surprising, thoughtful and funny gem. Rated: 4/5 May 19, 2021 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The script is an engaging blend of sarcastic wit, cynical insights, and the darkly comical truth about lies. I wish I had seen it sooner. This movie definitely should have gained more publicity! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Secrets, we all have them. At the end it all comes out. This movie got me homesick as I grew up a 15 minute ride on my bicycle up Shore Road in Westchester County from City Island. I used to hang out there all the time in high school and college. It is a fishing village in the middle of the Bronx, it is awesome place. Who has Italian blood in this movie? The mother is Jewish, Garcia and the daughter Cuban; who? Anyway it is mostly Italian-American, Irish American or German American City Island or some wacky mix like me.
