A dazzling Vietnamese martial arts movie with a soul, a stylish, gorgeously photographed film in which action sequences are punctuated by serene vistas of natural beauty. Go to Full Review

While Clash certainly sounds intriguing on paper as a Vietnamese Martial Arts flick, it certainly has little to offer beyond its promise of genre staples. Go to Full Review

See more 01/07/2014 A surprisingly solid action thriller, Clash is a Vietnamese (race pride) martial arts/crime thriller with an actual fleshed out characters and story. A ragtag group of five mercenaries are called together for a job. They must steal a briefcase from some French baddies. Trinh leads the group with the codename Phoenix, a tough and badass assassin who wants her daughter back from her boss. White Tiger is a tough supporter and potential love interest (played by Johnny Nguyen, briefly in Ong Bak and others), and the goofy OX, mischievous Snake, and loyal Black Dragon. Together, they must trust each other to get what they want. But when double crosses and unease are at hand, its bullets and fists that get results. The movie manages to have an interesting story to keep the action together. It has plenty of good martial arts fights spread throughout, with nothing too cheesy or except for one moment near the end. Near the end, a villain survives a motorcycle crash, but its so he can fight one of the protagonists. That is my only complaint. Keeping character development and story in check, it mixes those with fights and shootouts for a well made martial arts flick. See more 03/19/2012 The chases & shootouts may be substandard but the brutal martial arts fights are well choreographed and worth checking out in this Vietnamese action movie. See more 12/31/2011 Pretty cheesy movie. See more 11/03/2011 Clash's plot serves as a poor excuse for the violence onscreen but at least the violence is entertaining. And let's face it why else would you watch a martial arts flick. The action is well choreographed and very fast paced though it lacked in quantity. There are around 4 fight scenes, which to me is not enough to make up for the mediocre acting and the yawn inducing plot. See more Read all reviews
