1984 has a certain grim conviction in spite of its soapiness; this felt more soulless, and the action bored me, but I admit I'm not really into that kind of movie as a rule.

Everything about Class Of 1999 screams 1980s, which is no bad thing of course. The fashions, dialogue and soundtrack are almost a perfect snapshot of the era, despite the film being set right at the tail end of the 20th century.

It is an eighties looking movie set in 1999. I was alive in 1999 and I can confirm that it didn’t look especially eighties. Cheesy The Terminator (1984) inspired effects and general carnage are fine looking but dated. A normal sounding mix with tacky sounding gunfire. Otherwise ample sound with possibly slightly quiet dialogue. This reminded me of The Warriors (1979) but it wasn’t anywhere near as memorable. The robo-teachers were the most entertaining bit and even though they only really kicked off near the end. It is still well paced and entertaining. Considering that this is a low-budget b-movie there are plenty of explosions and stunts that made it far more enjoyable than it should be. It is made enjoyable by the mad stunts and brainless story.

Unusual film that's done well. Really enjoyed the spanking scene, but would have been even better if the kids were spanked bare ass.

Actually this was an enjoyable watch. Robot teachers out to kill students, and gangs fighting over worthless crap. Its almost like Mad Max but set in school. Plus it has Pam Grier, Malcolm McDowell, Stacy Keach and Patrick Kilpatrick.
