steve d Competently inept film with no scares and no excitement. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member In the year 1815, a monk accidentally releases two succubi and then he must travel to the mit wpiodern day to track them down and destroy them. Produced by Clive Barker and based one of his short stories, this TV movie has the look and feel of some of his earlier work with all the religious and sexual overtones the are present. The story is good, but does tend to lack a little when dealing with the interaction between the human characters, but this offset by a very good dynamic between the two female demons. The action is frequent and engaging enough to keep the viewer entertained throughout, though the climax happens too quickly and makes you feel that all the build up was for nothing. The gore is frequent, bloody and the the use of altered bodies makes for something a little different and is reminiscent the author at his best. It would have been so easy to make a standard horror product that looked and felt like a failed TV pilot, but even though it is not perfect, this movie stands apart and is worth viewing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Clive Barker oh how I adore you, this is another one of the Clive Barker feature: Grotesque humour, body horror and time travel succubus. It has a clear, distinctive setting; slimy, wet monsters; religious scenario, it's just so Clive Barker, a must watch for Clive Barker fans. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Weakly plotted horror about an 19th century monk who mistakenly summons two female demons who then launch themselves into modern day America via a teleportation device leaving the monk in pursuit to make up for his mistake. I'm not sure how accurate this is to Clive Barker's original story, but I can't believe he'd be responsible for something so silly. And silly the film is, but also quite fun and entertaining with some some slimey effects. It never gets boring, so just set your expectations very low if you decide to watch it and you may enjoy it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I saw the DVD version, where the nude content was presented in the extras. The lack of nudity made the demons seem awkwardly prudish. The movie looks cheap even by made for cable TV standards, and the story lacks any sense of horror or dramatic tension. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A mediocre film in Clive Barker's works Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
