Steve D Not crazy about the script but it is at least more interesting than Office Space. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review Scott H A profoundly underrated film. Every frame is beautiful. It's like "Office Space" directed by Stanley Kubrick. I can't believe it took me 25 years to see this. Do not miss it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review r w Did no one think a film called "Clockwatchers" would not invite longing for it to end? I like Parker Posey, independent films, and droll humor. I'll have to rethink Parker Posey; the other elements aren't here. 95 minutes of sophomoric characters filling the space for theatrical release may be the point: likening a meaningless film to a meaningless life. I got the joke fifteen minutes in when I realized that was the only joke. Watching paint dry; drivel. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/11/22 Full Review Audience Member An amusing little comedy that tends to lean towards pessimistic ideals in entertaining fashion. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I can't say it's a ‘fun' movie or even a suspenseful or dramatic one soooo what is it? A somewhat dated character study of office temps... and stolen office supplies. It is as trifling as it sounds but the characters create good contrast among their selves to make things mildly engaging. May seem foreign, even alien, to young people due to no Ubers, Starbucks, iPhones, or laptops. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review the s This is the perfect example of a movie not holding up well over time. In 1997, standards were a little different. Honestly, if a movie had Parker Posey, it qualified as "good" during the indie film rush of the 90s. And despite the talent power of the actresses involved, the story is cliche, boring and almost offensively simple. If you took Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Office Space and combined them together in a sort of a woman's version of both. You just have to remove the charm and originality of the originals to get to Clockwatchers. Despite the positive reviews, it's a very mediocre movie. Sub-mediocre If I'm being honest. And to be even more honest, I could barely make it through the whole thing in 2021. Either my standards have changed for what a good movie is or this kind of film was just a hiccup of the indie era where people were cukoo for Cocoa Puffs over really generic, mindless independent films for no other reason then they weren't major studio blockbusters. Parker Posey will always be awesome and can bring value to anything she's in but this movie may be the one exception where she wasn't able to salvage this one. Melissa Anderson 4Columns A downbeat yet pungent comedy about the indignities of temp life, the film keenly dissects the tenuousness of camaraderie forged among those deemed disposable, and quietly but unequivocally diagnoses the ills of end-of-millennium corporate culture. Apr 16, 2021 Full Review Globe and Mail Rated: 3/4 Apr 12, 2002 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times This is a rare film about the way people actually live. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Dave Giannini InSession Film Clockwatchers, given its expectations, is surprisingly bittersweet and heartfelt. Feb 23, 2024 Full Review Chase Burns The Stranger (Seattle, WA) I wonder if we'd all know about this film if it featured four leading dudes from the '90s, say Keanu Reeves or River Phoenix or Kevin Costner or Mark Wahlberg. Watch and make amends. Jan 5, 2022 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com Rated: 3/5 Nov 15, 2007 Full Review Read all reviews
