      Critics Consensus

Clown tries to bag a stylish, gory thrill, but good practical effects can't save this circus of mediocrity.

Ryan L You know....if this movie were a kind of origin story for Pennywise the Dancing Clown...I might care about it a little more. Who knows? Maybe they could claim it as canon. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/27/23 Full Review Trevor B Clown was pretty good, gory, and very disturbing, but dragged out!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Ray B A perfect old time horror movie. Original concept and the clown and the murders get worse and worse as the movie progresses. I loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The plot was surprisingly good, however, the effects were awful, and I got really can't be towards the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review b. The worst horror movie I've ever watched. Too many unnecessary plot and too much frigid lead to different scene.. If this is horror movie for kids, but too many gore scenes... Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Glenn Kenny New York Times I would ask any up-and-coming special-effects artist: Just because you can mold a convincing replica of a 6-year-old's severed arm, does it necessarily mean that you should? Jun 17, 2016 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com It comes apart about halfway through, losing a very difficult tonal balance. Having said that, there's more to like here than the studio burial would have you believe. Rated: 2/4 Jun 17, 2016 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Clown" has the goods. Refreshingly dark and sick, this is a movie for those who like cinematic monsters that hit so hard they leave a mark. Jun 16, 2016 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage Despite dealing with a demon, the film is very grounded. [Full review in Spanish] Jun 22, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review While competently made and demonstrating Watts' assured talent, the story and characters fail to engage in any way outside of disturbing us.
