Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school's pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other. Emboldened by her success, she decides to give hopelessly klutzy new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. This 1995 coming-of-age teen comedy is a loose adaptation of Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma and centers on a shallow, popular, and rich high school student who befriends a new girl and decides to give her a makeover while playing matchmaker for her teachers and examining her own existence. The film boasts impeccable writing, hilarious dialogue, and unforgettable caricatured characters. The unique scenes make it an incredibly fun and entertaining watch. It is a classic, charming story that perfectly captures its era. Plus, the soundtrack is amazing!
