Michael W This biopic movie was alright. Shirley MacLaine, Barbora Bodul'ova, Malcolm McDowell, Olivier Sitruk, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. This true story about the legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel was dramatic, tedious, and slow. If you haven't seen this movie yet, don't waste your time. It's not all that interesting to watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a two part biographic film. The first part dealt with coco living in a mansion with a wealthy ex soldier. The second part dealt with her move to Paris to start her fashion business. Although the first part is ok I preferred the second part because there was more of a story to tell, and a lot more happened in her life. This is not a bad film at all although it is, I think, made for TV, but it's not an epic Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member although it was worth watching to learn her story, the whole movie was dubbed which drove me crazy. Also, I wish they had added a reference to the year, I couldn't tell what year it was and that was frustrating. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This was okay, I was expecting more of a bio about Coco's entire life instead this just touches on her childhood and then profiles her throughout her twenties; working in a Paris dress shop and then moving in with a wealthy British man. Not satisfied being a kept woman, Coco designs hats and dreams of moving to Paris to open her own boutique. There's a bit of a love triangle, that's never resolved with her lovers best friend. Shirley MacClaine plays Coco in her later years and is excellent(although I wondered where her French accent disappeared to?) Really her role is only a cameo, appearing at the beginning and end. Speaking of which the ending is abrupt, leaving tons of unanswered questions. 03.30.14. "A chronicle of the life of French designer Coco Chanel (Shirley MacLaine), from her early years in Paris orphanages to her rise to the top of the fashion world. biography. " Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Very beautifully made and inspired by many things from it.. Young Coco & Chapel were played brilliantly. Her talent, strength and determination at that era when women were seen unequal to men is very exceptional. Her love relationships are also as interesting. Recommended. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A tantalizing plot as well as a powerhouse performance by Barbara Babulova, who plays young Coco Chanel. Kevin Carr 7M Pictures Also, as with most biopics, the movie does turn into a bit of a puff piece about the subject. In this film, Coco Chanel is always the victim, never the aggressor. Rated: 2/5 Aug 18, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
