John Serba Decider Jorge Coira competently handles a complex screenplay entangling moderately exciting action, moderately tender romance, moderately intriguing political drama and moderately tense close scrapes. It's not exceptional, but it rests on a sturdy foundation. Aug 29, 2022 Full Review Andrea Beach Common Sense Media Spanish spy drama has sex, violence, and drugs. Rated: 2/5 Aug 29, 2022 Full Review Jonathan Holland Screen International A high-speed, intense, and slickly packaged ride through the dark and nasty tunnels of state power, Jorge Coira's second feature Code Emperor is an all-too rare Spanish attempt to marry genre to real-life politics. Aug 22, 2022 Full Review Chris Joyce Movies and Munchies (YouTube) A boring and uneventful watch with characters that aren’t engaging or developed in a way that makes them even slightly relatable. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 16, 2022 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut From the expertly crafted opening sequence to the touching and surprising conclusion, there isn’t a false note because the plot is well composed and stoically put together. Ike J I generally liked it due to Alexandra Masangkay. However, I also liked that the touch guy does not fight much, but we see him mostly managing things. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review luca d it's a very good action movie. The plot is nothing original, but it has no big holes or forgetfulness. What I think is missing and is felt especially at the beginning and in the end, is a defined chronological framework of the various relationships between the characters. moreover, the characterization of some characters that end up becoming "luxury extras" is often lacking. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/23 Full Review avindu g A master builder tear down an empire from top to bottom in this delightful spy thriller. Thorough precise work by Luis Tosar brings a veteran presence to the movie. This is the kind of thriller that does work without the the common fire works and car chases. It's a rarity to come across a plot with true cinematic value. Code name Emperor's main character Juan is the kind of whistleblowers our world need. In a world where men and women made into puppets using data or the secrets Juan's character finds empathy and that emotions are carefully performed. The societal and political commentary is excellent. Code Name Emperor in these regards is an excellent movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
